Marjorie Merriweather Post began collecting French works of art in the 1910s and continued to collect in this field until the late 1960s. Her collection of French decorative arts can be counted among the most comprehensive in the country. The following objects are amongst the most important pieces of French decorative arts and paintings in Hillwood’s permanent collection. All of these objects are currently on view in the opulent and gracious setting of Hillwood’s mansion.
